Xavier's last day at school in Colorado

Xavier brought ice cream sandwiches for snack on his last day. He was so happy and sad at the same time. His last day was July 19th. We have called Ms. Jeanne a few times, so he can say hi. He really misses all his classmates.

We're here!!!!!!!

Hi everyone. Sorry for the long overdue posting. We just got the internet up and running on Monday and I finally have a free moment to post. However, my hubby has not set up the main computer yet. We are using the laptop and I can't download any pictures. I have made him promise to get things set up by the end of the week. We will see how that goes.
Besides that, things are going well here. I started work last week and our first day of school was today. It went alright. I have a lot of work to do the next 6 weeks in getting the children where they need to be in regards to classroom behavior and academics. This year will definitely be a challenging one.
John started his new job at Sears yesterday and says its good. His commute is pretty long, but he's working on a better route. His first day at church went nicely and we had a good turn out.
Xavier, on the other hand, is not handling the transition very well. He loves the new house and all the space it has. He loves church and even loves Sabbath school with Ms. Bettie. But he misses Colorado, all his friends, and his old school. He likes the new school, but says it's not his school. We are confidant that he will adjust, it is just going to take him some time.
As for the baby, everything is going well. I go in about 3 weeks for the big ultrasound where we will find out the gender. I will post this as soon I as know. I am kinda starting to show. There is definitely a hard bumpish area in my mid section and I have started to feel the baby move some. John and I are currently arguing over names, as usual. It took us forever to agree on Xavier's. This one may take us up to the due date.

Loading Day

John had some friends come over tonight and start loading the heavy things into the moving cubes. They got almost all of it done. Now we have to finish up some last minute packing and load the boxes. We are slowly getting there.

Red Lobster

A parent from my class, who I have become very good friends with, took Xavier and I out for dinner tonight. We went to Red Lobster. Her son Walton is 4 1/2 and is in my class, but he and Xavier play on the playground sometimes. They had a wonderful time tonight eating lobster pizza and drinking strawberry smoothies.

Pizza anyone?????

Tonight we went out with some friends John works with at Sears. They are also moving, but to Utah. We took them to Johnny Carino's, they had never been there before. Xavier decided he was having pizza with black olives instead of his usual chicken and broccoli. He was so cute eating his pizza that I just had to share these with everyone.

Xavier's pictures

John bought me a new camera yesterday because my other one was stolen in San Diego back in March. It is really nice and better than the one that was stolen. But, we still have the original HP 4 mega pixel camera. so, we thought Xavier might like to use this older camera. Tonight we gave him a lesson on how to use a camera and he didn't do too bad for a 3 year old. We were at Johnny Carino's with some friends and that is who he took the pictures of. He took all of them completely by himself.

Girl's Day Out

Yesterday some good friends of mine from here in Colorado took me out for a girl's day. We went and got pedicures and then they suprised me with a going away party and baby shower. It was really nice and I was pleasantly suprised. I don't have pictures of the party yet, but you can check us out getting our toes done and what they looked like afterwards.

John's new car

After much discussion and looking at long term costs, we decided it would be best to get John a new car. The Malibu was on its last legs. Plus we didn't know if it would even make it to Georgia in one piece. So, yesterday John went down to the car dealer and looked at what we could afford. He came home with a 2007 KIA Rio. He is very happy. It is not what he really wanted, but it's what we can afford and it's brand new. Although it has no power locks or windows, so he will more than likely lock himself out. (He tends to do this a lot.) plus it gets 40mpg, which will come in handy since our new church members live so far from the actual church. John can save gas while visiting them.
We showed it to Xavier this morning. He was very impressed. He told Daddy it looked like a race car. He quickly climbed in and checked everything out. He likes the red in the seats and that the seats in the back fold down to show the trunk. The spoiler on the back was pretty cool too. He said he can't wait to ride in it with Daddy.

He comes from good genes. :)

So, a few weeks ago, Xavier and his teacher Miss Jeanne came looking for me in my classroom. Xavier had done some challenging work and wanted to show me. I was so happy when I saw that he had done the USA puzzle map. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, it is a wooden puzzle cut into the shapes of the 50 states. The child is to remove the states one by one and place them onto a control map on the other side of their rug, so that every piece fits. Kinda like putting the puzzle together outside the box. Then they have to put it back into the try so every piece fits inside the tray. We have one for almost every continent in Montessori (except Antarctica). Anyway, he did it by himself. Miss Jeanne said he needed help with the smaller states such as Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. I was so proud of him. I have 5 yr olds in my class who get 1/2 through and give up. He can also tell you on any USA map where Georgia, Colorado, Texas, Florida, and California are located. Right now we are working on Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama.
